Kadin Supports AZEC Advocacy Group

Kadin Indonesia emphasises the importance of maintaining a balance between the commitment to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) and the rapid growth being experienced in the Asian region.

Efforts to achieve zero emissions must be adjusted to the conditions of each country, so that the rapid economic growth in Asia can be maintained. Indonesia has shown a strong commitment to achieving a net-zero economy by 2060 or even sooner.

International initiatives such as AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) are crucial to balance the commitment to zero emissions with economic growth. Therefore, the AZEC Advocacy Group aims to provide a platform for the private sector to implement solutions and voice aspirations regarding the energy transition.

A global approach to energy transition must take into account the complexity of energy needs and economic conditions in different Asian countries. Therefore, it is important to promote simultaneous and interconnected implementation of energy security and transition in Asian countries.

Energy security is critical because in addition to supporting new industries and ensuring people's access to health and education, it also opens up viable economic opportunities. At the same time, however, Asian countries need to shift to greener and more sustainable approaches.

With the Indonesian government's commitment to develop an economic framework that is "Pro-Growth, Pro-Welfare, and Pro-Green," Kadin hopes that Avocacy AZEC can attract more international cooperation.

AZEC is expected to be an important platform for cross-country and sector collaboration to align visions with private sector contributions in Asia, to ensure an inclusive energy transition.

Role of AZEC

AZEC serves as a platform to ensure that economic growth and carbon neutrality can be achieved simultaneously by industries across Asia.

AZEC was established to achieve two key targets, economic growth and carbon neutrality, which must be realised simultaneously by industry players in every country in Asia.

The successful transition to a sustainable economy in Asia depends largely on each country's ability to integrate the right technologies, while taking into account their specific needs and challenges.

The AZEC Advocacy Group comprises business leaders, government and energy experts who share knowledge and solutions related to the energy transition. The main focus of the agenda includes discussions on the energy transition landscape and challenges in Asia, the development of effective national and regional frameworks, and optimal financing schemes.

This initiative also demonstrates Kadin Indonesia's commitment in supporting the zero emission target by 2060 or sooner, in line with Indonesia's national commitments under the UNFCCC.
